The subject of our current article involves how a locksmith is more than well-versed and experienced in the field of electronic security devices and alarms, with tools and training to match.

The locksmith industry has worked for years in tandem in all forms of security advancements for not only the automotive business (transponders and VAT systems, etc.) but also working with, in all forums, electronic security devices pertaining to the business or home for doors, locks and applicable hardware.

Exit alarm locks and panic bar deadlocks. Safety alarm locks, emergency exits. Electric release latches, electric door openers, electrical keyless locks, key actuated switches and more are all available for clients through any full service locksmith company.

To start this listing of mandatory equipment are two devices with the word tape in their name but only one actually being it. The one this writer assumes most have heard of is electrical tape. The other not so talked about item is called a fish tape. A fish tape is a used to route new wiring through electrical conduit and walls. They are made of a narrow band of steel and with careful use can be guided, fished through confined spaces in wall cavities. As mentioned above the locksmith will require drill bits, but in this scenario flexible drill bits and extensions will be needed.

A multi-meter is an electronic measuring instrument that combines several features into one unit. Also known as a volt/ohm meter (VOM) the standard multi meter usually includes features such as the ability to measure current, resistance and voltage.

Round this out with a staple gun or wiring tackers, staples, twist connectors, under carpet tape, a voltage tester, wire strippers and wire cutters and we can see the job at hand.

The locksmith utilizes a large number of tools and equipment in their day to day operations, some more than others, but all equally important in keeping with standards and professionalism, thereby constantly meeting customer needs in all forms of industry, whether it is non emergency install situations or repairs, in house work able to be picked up from the shop or the always important in the field emergency calls.

As we become more and more familiar with the tools a locksmith not only uses, but relies on to perform successfully, the skill and talent acquired is evident and we start to see an overlapping fact. This business of locksmithing is more than just a quick opening of doors on homes, vehicles, or businesses. It is more than merely getting to personal belongings in safes, file cabinets or safety deposit boxes. It is a complex and important field requiring ?know how?, ability, and willingness to go the distance from the simple to the complex for all jobs and all customers.
